1999.99..., 2000!!!

Yes sir! Today we crossed the point of our two thousand kilometer route from China through Laos to Vietnam at the moment. It has cost a hundred and sixty hours, more or less, and six weeks, resting one day a week and a half week to complete. The average is about fifteen kilometers an hour, which is not so bad noticing that our bikes weigh forty kilos and several  biking stages have exceeded one thousand feet going uphill. Just for your informationToday we finally arrived to our expected destination Vientinae,  the capital of Laos and  the door that will take us into Thailand , separated only by the waters of the great Mekong River. And to be honest.. ... it's a city like any other, even.. probably worse. During our stay in Laos, the amazing impression that we had from the remote northern lands, has done more than undermine the further south we went. This small country that was once visited to observe their people and simple way of life, has molded itself to tourism.Every place we wanted to see has became a disappointment , full of hotels, expensive restaurants, cyber coffee shops ( from where these lines are written), rentals of all types of vehicles, all types of bars and clubs for the nightlife that many tourists come to enjoy. That always look over their shoulder to the local people of Laos with pride and arrogance showing the "power" of their western money. Meanwhile we will concentrate on enjoying the road, which is what our bikes share with us, the ability to keep on turning, slap our hands with many of the little children that run out to great us with their sympathetic greeting that sounds like "sabaidiiii! ".While I was pedaling pedaling I came to the thinking, "I am tourist also!", "Why do we want to leave our houses to search for something different if when we are away we search for everything we had at home?" Finally,  I'll try to be somewhat consistent and look for something different from what we have at home searching by the roads of Thailand!
